Spain, following a strong initial performance and some late nerves, extended their winning run in the Nations League. They defeated the Czech Republic 3-1 in Oviedo, maintaining a perfect record with their third win in Group A3.

Building on impressive victories against England (3-2) and Croatia (4-1), Spain initially put on a commanding display. The team remains unbeaten in 41 matches. Lamine Yamal ignited the scoring early with a spectacular curling shot in the 6th minute.

Spain controlled the game, creating numerous opportunities. Captain Rodri doubled their lead from distance in the 35th minute. Yamal was substituted at halftime.

Late Drama and Disallowed Goals

The Czech Republic found a way back into the game unexpectedly when Jiri Slama scored in the 69th minute. Goalkeeper David Raya nearly gifted an equalizer after a misplaced pass, but Ondrej Lingr’s subsequent shot in the 72nd minute lacked power.

Ryan Naderi's goal in the 79th minute was disallowed due to a foul on Spain's Robin Le Normand. Czech captain Ladislav Krejci received a second yellow card in the 85th minute, and Mikel Merino sealed the win for Spain in the 89th minute.

"I thought it was going to be one of the most difficult games, and it was," Rodri commented. "It was tough for us, but we had scoring chances. There are games where you can't create many chances, but the team managed to decide the game in their favor."

Fabian Ruiz's Absence

Coach Luis de la Fuente was without Fabian Ruiz for the match. The Paris Saint-Germain player had left the squad before the game to be present for the birth of his child. It remains uncertain if he will be available for the return fixture against Croatia in Split on Tuesday.

Spain leads their group ahead of England. Thomas Tuchel's side secured a significant 7-0 victory against a struggling Croatian team on Saturday.
