Italy nearly secured an impressive win in Paris, drawing 1-1 with France at the Stade de France. The Azzurri played with courage, earning a point and bringing their tally to 4 points in Group 1 of League A in the Nations League. This follows their opening loss to Belgium and subsequent victory against Turkey.

Italy's Resilient Draw Against France

On the same day Zinedine Zidane faced the Azzurri for the first time since the 2006 World Cup final, a match remembered for his headbutt on Marco Materazzi, the new French coach settled for a draw in his debut on French soil. After Olise opened the scoring for France, Alessandro Bastoni equalized for Italy.

Kean Misses a Prime Opportunity

Italy had an early chance to take the lead. In the 9th minute, Moise Kean found himself close to France's goalkeeper Maignan but couldn't convert the opportunity, hitting the Milan goalkeeper directly.

France gradually increased their tempo. In the 23rd minute, Olise struck the crossbar with a shot that deflected off Tonali, coming close to giving France the lead.

The Azzurri, however, continued to attack. In the 39th minute, Davide Frattesi also came close to scoring, but his shot was blocked into a corner before it could cross the line.

Shortly after, Kean managed to beat Maignan, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Donnarumma Steals the Show in the Second Half

In the second half, Gianluigi Donnarumma became the standout performer. The Italian goalkeeper made three decisive saves, keeping Italy in the game.

He first denied Doué, then saved a shot from Ousmane Dembélé, and finally thwarted Olise's attempt, preventing France from pulling ahead.

Donnarumma's saves kept Italy competitive. They eventually found the equalizer through Bastoni, securing a valuable point at the Stade de France.
