Cagliari Midfielder Adopo: "More Confidence, Tougher Opponents, Believe in Pisacane. Inspired by McTominay and Rabiot, Aiming for Greater Impact"
Cagliari midfielder Michel Adopo shared his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Sky Sport during the Serie A organized Media Day. He touched upon the team's development, his relationship with coach Fabio Pisacane, and his personal ambitions.
Adopo: "We Have More Identity Now"
The midfielder highlighted the team's consistency from last season and the increased self-awareness within the squad:
“We’re seeing a Cagliari that defends, that knows how to endure tough moments, just like last season. It’s the second year with the Coach, and we possess a stronger identity, a clear game plan. We are satisfied. Most of the players are the same as last season, with new additions providing significant help. We are solidifying the work from last season. We have more confidence now: this is a healthy, young group. We are eager to work and improve. Our team aims to concede no goals, making every match difficult for opponents.”
"The Relationship with the Coach Makes the Difference"
Adopo pointed to the team's connection with Pisacane and their preparation during the week as key strengths for Cagliari:
“The relationship with the Coach makes the difference; we believe strongly in him. He explains everything to us during the week before matches. As a result, when we take the field, we know exactly what to do and play without fear. This is evident in our games; we always give our maximum. We are a young team with significant room for growth. I believe this team can do very well, but we must never forget the foundation: don't concede, fight for every ball.”
Adopo: "I Look Up to McTominay and Rabiot"
On a personal level, Adopo aims to increase his contribution, including statistics, and identified two Serie A midfielders as role models:
“I look up to many midfielders. In Serie A, for instance, I watch McTominay and Rabiot. They are complete players: they contribute defensively and offensively, influencing games. They score goals and can change the course of a match. I aim to be one of those players who can also provide that impact. My goal? To improve my statistics, to do better than last year. I am a player who values the team's effort: I like to drive play in possession; when we lose the ball, I try to help my teammates. Making that extra run is normal for me.”
